Cinnamon Streusel Coffee Cake is a light & fluffy golden cake topped with a classic cinnamon, brown sugar streusel topping.

This coffee cake recipe has been in my family for years, made by one of my mom’s best friends, Shelia. Since then we have made several twists on this delicious recipe.

I have to say that this version of Cinnamon Streusel Coffee Cake is by far my favorite. Made with a few simple ingredients make this a part of your weekend morning routine.

There is one thing though that we all love and that is coffee cake. Seriously it has been a staple in our home and family since I was a child. Every once in a while I get the gumption to add a twist or two to this recipe and try something new. This time it was streusel topping, thanks to the suggestion from my friend Allison who made it first!

Light, fluffy and moist this coffee cake I thought couldn’t be better, but add a cinnamon streusel and a light dusting of powdered sugar, and you have the best pastry to start off your day with.

TIDBITS ABOUT COFFEE CAKE

Does a coffee cake have coffee in it?

Unlike what the name might suggest to some, the coffee cake does not actually contain coffee in it. Often, coffee cake is a term used for any cake that accompanies drinking coffee. To me, coffee cake has a delectable crumb texture with excess streusel, bring on the sugary topping … like the recipe I am sharing.

How should coffee cake be stored?

This coffee cake deliciously moist, tender cake that stays soft for days. For best results and flavor, store in an airtight container at room temperature and enjoy within 3 days.
