These Baked Honey Garlic Chicken Tenders are crispy and slightly addicting; I may have decided to put these on my weekly menu rotation. And well, my kids won’t be disappointed by any means.

In the past, our game day spread has consisted of chicken wings (not baked) and queso. Not the healthiest combination. So I decided to step up my own game and create some recipes that my family would love and don’t consist of frying anything.

After a recent trip to the grocery store where they had some samples out for some chicken tenders and my kids loved them so much that they may have gone back more than twice, along with my hubby, to get some more I decided to start making these at home. And I wanted to bake them.

What was great about the chicken tenders my family was devouring was their crispy outer coating.

Since my kids love honey chicken, I went to one of my recipes for the sauce. This sauce is mouthwatering and delicious, and we love it over anything.

Ready in 30 minutes, baked to perfection and dipped in a simple honey garlic sauce these BAKED HONEY GARLIC CHICKEN TENDERS are out of this world.

We have made a few versions of baked chicken tenders and all love them. Even plain Jane-baked chicken tenders are delicious. My kids love dipping them into their favorite sauces like BBQ, ranch, and the classic ketchup.

I, on the other hand, love my chicken tenders already “sauced.” So these Baked Honey Garlic Chicken Tenders are simply a delight.

These chicken tenders are crispy and tasty without all the fried calories.

Recipe Tips

  • Do not replace panko and cornflakes with regular breadcrumbs. Regular breadcrumbs do not offer the same level of crispness as the combination of the Corn Flakes and Panko breadcrumbs. Panko breadcrumbs and cornflakes are recommended to achieve the best outcome.
  • Line a rimmed baking tray with parchment paper instead of foil. Foil tends to cause the chicken to stick and may result in the coating pulling off.
  • To ensure the freshness of Baked Honey Garlic Chicken Tenders, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It can maintain its quality for 3 to 5 days when properly stored. To prevent sogginess, avoid stacking the chicken directly on each other. Instead, place a piece of parchment paper between the layers.
  • Use your air fryer to reheat! That way, they stay crispy.

Baked Honey Garlic Chicken Tenders

Prep: 20 minutes
Cook: 20 minutes
Total: 40 minutes

Ready in 30 minutes, baked to perfection, and dipped in a simple honey garlic sauce, these Baked Honey Garlic Chicken Tenders are out of this world.

Ingredients

  • 12-15 chicken tenders strips
  • 1 cup panko bread crumbs
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 6 cups Corn Flakes {cereal}
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon groud ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk

Honey Garlic Sauce

  • 5 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup + 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to  425 F degrees.
Get a large baking sheet and place a wire cooking rack {a wire cookie rack even works} on the pan. Spray the cooking rack with cooking oil and set aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl add in 6 cups of Corn Flakes cereal. Then using your hands {wash before hand} crush up the Corn Flakes.
You can also add the Corn Flakes to a large Ziplock bag and seal, the roll over the bag with a rolling pin. But I like crushing them up with my hands, so do the kids!
  • In a large skillet melt butter over medium heat. Once melted stir in panko bread crumbs and continue to stir until a nice golden brown.
Remove from heat and pour into Corn Flakes bowl and stir to combine.
  • In a medium mixing bowl combine the eggs and milk and whisk together until well combined, set aside.
  • In another medium mixing bowl add flour, salt, garlic powder, pepper, ginger and paprika, stir to combine.
  • Add chicken tenders to flour and toss until evenly coated, I do this one chicken tender at a time.
Remove from flour, gently shaking to remove excess flour, then dip into egg/milk mixture, let the excess mixture drip off.
Add chicken tender to corn flakes/panko mixture, toss to coat, and press the mixture on the chicken.
I like to squeeze the chicken tender, wrapping up the mixture around it. I make sure that each tender is heavily coated, there should be no bare spots.
Gently shake off any excess that isn’t sticking to the chicken and place on the prepared wire rack.
Repeat until all chicken tenders are breaded.
  • Bake for 20-22 minutes or until chicken is cooked through.
Allow the chicken tender to cool while you make the Honey Garlic Sauce.

Honey Garlic Sauce

  • Add 2 tablespoons olive oil and minced garlic to a medium saucepan over medium heat. Cook until garlic is soft, not browned, then add honey, soy sauce and black pepper.
  • Simmer together for 5 minutes, making sure to watch the sauce as it simmers because it can foam up over the pot very easily.
Remove from heat and allow to cool for a few minutes.
  • Using tongs grab a chicken tender and dip it into the Honey Garlic Sauce, coating the entire tender, gently shake off the extra sauce and return to baking rack. Dip all tenders, into the sauce. place on rack and the serve immediately.

  2. This is a wonderful addition to my chicken recipes. My family’s staple is chicken and I bet they’d love this version of chicken tender. Healthy with honey, tasty, and looks crisp but tender in the inside. Will definitely try this out. Thanks for sharing your recipe, Sandra.

  3. 5 stars
These are some of the best chicken tenders I’ve ever made. I love the garlicky kick, and because I always dip my chicken tenders in honey anyway, the addition of the honey is perfect.
