By some Christmas miracle, I have not gained 20 lbs from all the fudge-making I have been doing lately. This caramel is my favorite of the week – it’s made with Dulce de Leche, which is a rich, sweetened condensed milk that has a natural caramel flavor. It’s excellent for baking and candy-making…which is precisely what I used it for

The idea for this delicious Dulce de Leche Fudge occurred while grocery shopping in the baking aisle. After picking up some sweetened condensed milk for a poke cake, my eyes landed on the Dulce de Leche, and I knew I needed to make fudge with it. This recipe is so easy, and you can use any chocolate! I went with dark and semi-sweet because I love dark chocolate, but anything would work well. Make it your own!

Although the Dulce de Leche doesn’t have a prominent caramel flavor in this recipe, it does make the fudge richer and creamier. Another thing to keep in mind is that if you use dark chocolate, the Dulce de Leche will be more subdued.

Prepare an 8- or 9-inch square pan by spraying it with cooking oil and lining it with parchment paper extending over the pan’s edges.

Heat dulce de leche sweetened condensed milk, and chocolate chips in a medium saucepan over medium heat until completely melted, creamy, and smooth.

How do you store fudge?

After you’ve cut your fudge into squares, store it in an airtight container or wrap each piece in waxed paper and refrigerate.

How long does fudge last?

Fudge stored in an airtight container at room temperature lasts two weeks while keeping it in the fridge can extend its shelf-life to 3 or 4 weeks. If you plan on storing the fudge for an extended period, freezing it in an airtight container will preserve its quality for up to 3 months.
